Peace of Mind for Diabetes

Supporting people living with diabetes who experience Diabetic Peripheral Neuropathy

Healthmachine™ created a digital solution designed to support people living with diabetes who experience Diabetic Peripheral Neuropathy (DPN). Its launch in January 2025 marked Avegen’s first ever live implementation in Thailand, supporting their local population to better manage their symptoms and reduce complications from this challenging condition.

The problem

Diabetic peripheral neuropathy (DPN) is a common yet serious complication of diabetes, affecting nearly half of all adults with the condition over their lifetime. Caused by prolonged high blood glucose levels damaging peripheral nerves, DPN often leads to pain, numbness, loss of sensation, and a significantly increased risk of foot ulcers and lower limb amputation.

Reducing these risks requires early detection, regular foot checks, optimised blood glucose control, and ongoing symptom monitoring. But many individuals lack the tools, confidence, or knowledge to identify risks early or manage symptoms effectively.

As the emphasis on lifestyle interventions such as weight management and physical activity continues to grow, digital health solutions can play a pivotal role in helping people adopt and sustain better habits, particularly those living with chronic conditions like DPN.

Our solution

Developed in close collaboration with Viatris, Bao Jai Bao Wan is a user-friendly digital programme designed to help individuals living with diabetes better understand and manage the challenges of DPN. The solution combines education, structured symptom tracking, and personalised health tools to empower users to take proactive steps in protecting their long-term health.

Key app features:

  • Educational resources to improve understanding and self-management of DPN
  • Health tracking to monitor key metrics and track progress over time
  • Personalised health goals tailored to individual needs and lifestyles
  • Interactive dashboard providing a holistic view of health and trends
  • Pain scale monitoring to assess symptoms and guide better pain management

With these tools, users gain greater insight into their condition, feel more in control of their symptoms, and are better prepared for discussions with their healthcare providers, leading to more informed and proactive care.

Results

Since launching in Thailand in January 2025, the Bao Jai Bao Wan has shown clear, measurable traction, recording 2,500+ installs

During this period, the programme was complemented by broader patient awareness tactics, as listed on the right.

Pharmacy kiosks placed outside pharmacies to increase visibility at key care touchpoints.
Influencer marketing campaigns with social media influencers.

Key Takeaways

DPN affects nearly half of people with diabetes, increasing the risk of pain, ulcers, and amputation. Early detection and management are key, but many need more support.  Bao Jai Bao Wan helps by providing education, symptom tracking, and personalised health tools through a mobile app.
